QUEENS OF HOP: A WOMAN ON A MISSION
Hello, I am Katie. In 2015 I've founded Queens of Hop with my companion Bo. We were (and still are) women with a strong passion for (Belgian) beer. Our most important mission is to carry out that passion and to promote beer as a product through beer tastings and other beer related activities. Unfortunately, Bo was too busy to carry on with the project, which Katie now runs on her own.
Queens of Hop organises beer tastings at home, but also in other locations (such as pubs, restaurants, ...) and for a variety of costumers, for example companies, organisations, sports clubs, a group of friends or colleagues, ...
Since 2018, Queens of Hop is not only active in Belgium, but also hosts Belgian beer tastings abroad in the London area. Since 2022, Queens of Hop has its own beer, called Drama Queen. The beer won a gold medal and a 'Belgiums best' medal at the World Beer Awards 2026 in the 'Strong porter' category.
WHY BEER?
Beer is a wonderful product, and as Belgians we should be more proud of it. Next to chocolate and fries, beer is what defines our country the most abroad. Despite our world fame in beer, the Belgians are only 20th on the list when it comes to beer consupmtion per capita. The Belgians do not appreciate their own top product, while a lot of tourists visit Belgium to have a taste of our wonderful beers or pay an enormous amount of money for a bottle of Belgian beer in their own country.
We hear a lot of people saying 'I do not like beer', we see a lot of people going for wine with their food of we see them always ordering the same beer. Queens of Hop wants to change this pattern by inviting people on a discovery tour of Belgian Beers, where different types of beer and different aromas and tastes in beer can be sensed. During a tasting, we serve the beer in small tasting glasses to taste and discover, all of them made in (Belgian) craft breweries.
In short, an afternoon or evening with Queens of Hop during a beer tour or beer tasting will be one to be remembered as a fun, interesting and tasteful way discovering new flavors is key.

BEER TASTINGS
Tastings can be hosted at home (min. 12 pers) and on other locations (min. 15 pers) for a variety of costumers (such as pub or restaurant holders, sports clubs, organisations, ...). Queens of Hop offer your group a full tasting. We bring everyting (beer, glasses, noteblocs and so on), all you have to provide is a fridge and a table for all your guests. In summertime, tastings can also take place outside when the weather is warm and dry. If you want or can provide the beer yourself, we ask for a fixed fee for our services.
A tasting can be themed as you wish. We can offer tastings with a taste of a few different typical Belgian beer styles (such as saison, tripel, sours, ...), a sour-only tasting, a trappist tasting, a tasting with Belgian-style beers that origin in other countries (such as porter, stout, IPA), ... You ask, we provide, that's how simple it is!
A tasting always starts with about 30 minutes of things to know about beer: how is it made, why is it such an interesting product, how do you serve and taste a beer, what are the different types of beer? Afterwards, the tastings start. Depending on your choice, we can offer you a standard (6 beers), large (8 beers) of extra large (10 beers) tasting, all around 1/4 of a pint each. It is best to wait 30 mins to an hour before driving after you finish the tasting or take public transport home.
The price for a tasting per person depends on the chosen formula, the number of participants and the amount of tasting glasses per person. Interested in a fun and tastful evening? Search no longer and contact us! We will make you an offer you can't refuse :-)
We can offer tastings in Dutch and English and we are also willing to come abroad for tastings. In that case we kindly ask you to provide a payback of our transport and/or a place to stay overnight.
